 Vegalim F1 asparagus

Vegalim is a 100% male hybrid and is extremely suitable for the cultivation of green asparagus in areas with a warm/Mediterranean climate. Vegalim combines a middle-early production with high yields and an excellent closed tip. Vegalim is also extremely suitable for forced early cultivation.

Cultivation
Vegalim thrives best in fertile, well-drained soils. Research carried out over a number of years has shown that the best results for green asparagus have been achieved with a planting density of 25,000 - 32,000 plants per hectare and with a planting depth of 15 - 30 cm. The highest plant densities can be applied in plots that can be artificially irrigated or equipped with drip irrigation. Vegalim is a 100% male hybrid, which not only means a longer, profitable shelf-life, but also that seedlings no longer occur.

Product
Vegalim has a very high production potential, an excellent quality and stems of a good thickness. Vegalim's closed tip is also excellent under warm conditions. A high percentage of the product is located within the diameter class above 12 mm. Vegalim produces fine, smooth, cylindrical stems.

Foliage
The uniform foliage of Vegalim is erect and has a high resistance to foliage diseases. In view of the fact that no female berries are formed, the foliage is virtually unsusceptible to lodging. Its high resistance to foliage diseases therefore also makes Vegalim suitable for organic cultivation methods.

Seeds
All of Limseeds' seeds are tested according to stringent internal quality controls for germination capacity (in accordance with ISTA protocol) and varietal purity. Before seeds are delivered, they are once again tested by the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture [Stichting Naktuinbouw], an independent inspection service established under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality [Ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit].
